Sometimes it feels like my life hurries by in a never ending stream of tasks, errands, and conflicts.  But yesterday the whole world slowed down for an afternoon at the beach.

It started with the perfect lunch: salami, cheese, crackers, apples, and jelly bellies.  We dug with shovels and pails, ran in the sand, dipped toes in the ocean, climbed rocks and chased birds.  It was so fun and even relaxing!

He pulled the boys reluctantly from the waves and we all stumbled back to the car with our arms full of blankets, chairs, bags, and buckets.  We got them into warm, clean clothes and headed for out to find some good pizza.

Late that night when we pulled into the driveway they were both sound asleep.  We carried them to their beds, stripped off sandy shoes and sweatshirts, kissed their cheeks and turned off the light.

For the last several years my husband has had a lovely work schedule.  He works nine hours a day and gets every other Friday off.  Sadly, September marks the end of this schedule, so we decided to make the most of our last free Friday and we took the boys to the Oakland Zoo.  It really is the perfect zoo for small children.  Not too big and filled with playgrounds and exhibits that are geared for preschool aged children.  They had a great time.  Five hours at the zoo just wasn’t enough time for them, but it was enough for mom and dad.

I’ve been feeling a bit guilty; not keeping up with my posting.

After almost two weeks of not feeling good (not really pregnancy related), I am finally starting to feel like myself again.  I must confess there were days, (you know, the ones that keep you so busy that you hardly sit down) that I wished I could be “sick” for a few days and just rest.  I don’t feel that way anymore.  I would rather be my capable busy self.  But now that I am feeling better I am looking around and seeing, dirty windows, showers that need a good scrubbing, a summer flower garden that is past it’s prime, weeds growing in every flower bed, and about two weeks worth of ironing piled in my laundry room.  How do I convince myself that it does not all need to be done today?

The boys are doing great.  Big Brother started Cubbies a few weeks ago.  He is excited to see his cousins every week and cannot wait to get his Cubbies vest.  I will post pictures as soon as the vest arrives.  He’s been doing a great job memorizing his little memory verses and has finally worked up the courage to say the verses to Mr. Bruce and Mrs. Jo (his Cubbie leaders).

I took Little Boy to his 18 month check up last friday (yes, I know we’re a little late!). He grew five inches since his last check up in January!  I knew he had grown but he’s been wearing shorts for the last three months, so I guess I hadn’t noticed how much he had grown.

I have a small pile of fall clothes I bought on sale for the boys.  Hooded sweat shirts, jeans, long sleeved shirts, and corduroy pants.  I can’t wait until it’s cool enough to wear them!  Meanwhile, they will sit neatly folded in the bottom of their drawers, waiting for those cool fall days.  Speaking of clothes.  I am at that very frustrating place in my pregnancy were none of my regular clothes really fit me comfortably, but all of my maternity clothes are still swimming on me.  I don’t know what I’m going to wear for the next 3 or 4 weeks.

Well, that’s the news from our little corner of the world.  I am off to clean my refrigerator!
