I have a brand new beautiful niece, and several friends who are expecting baby girls later this summer.
The sewing room has been filled with frilly, feminine goodness.
Here are just a few of the gifts I’ve been making.
Tea dyed onesies with vintage lace, carved mother-of-pearl buttons, and chiffon flowers make a
one-of-a-kind gift.
I like to add a little vintage inspired hair clip.
I also made some baby dresses
This free pattern can be found here
No zippers, no scary buttons holes… just two little ties and a bit of bias tape for the hem. Brilliant!
I realize that a baby dress might seem a little intimidating, but this is a lovely, breezy little pattern that goes together so quickly. One hour… tops. But you don’t have to tell your friends that. Feel free to let them think you labored away for days to make a dress for their little girl. I won’t tell. Mums the word…
If you are looking for more sewing inspiration you can check out my sewing board on Pinterest. It is filled with all of my favorite tutorials and patterns.
Now go have fun making something lovely for someone you love. ~April
ps~ I tried to keep the post from being too wordy, but if there was something you wanted to know a little more about, I’d be happy to oblige.
omyword! these are beyond darling! those onesies!!! all the frilly, vintage, amazing details! i just love them all! you do know i’m expecting, right? ;O) course, i’ve no idea what bebe is… whomever you give these to is going to be soooo blessed!

Oh how I loved to read this post… Baby Willow would have looked darling in these.. But I hope that one day I can again dream of dresses for a baby girl. ( :
These are all so darling! Love ya! !
swoon. a thousand times over. you really never cease to amaze me with your creativity and attention to the tiny details. I really adore those dresses and just might feel inspired to pull out the ol’ machine and whip up some summer goodness for abbi.
Now. About the onesies. So, is it really really presumptuous to leave a spot in my little drawer of boy goodies for some “april goodness”? I feel like it is, but one can hope, no? You DO know how I feel about your onesies..?
the ruffles on the BUM!!! love. the little girls and i were in baby gap today and i thought of you and all your little dresses… have you seen some of their spring line? so sweet and vintagey. the plums and corals. so cool. your stuff could easily give them a run for their money though. “the gap APRIL baby.” how bout that?
lovin the buttons too. sweet sweet.
if i have a baby girl, I so want one of the dresses! you would have to make it for me though
amazing April
squeal! So happy to be able to follow you on pinterest!! These dresses are ADORABLE!
I want a baby girl just so I can buy clothes from you April!!!
I LOVE those onsies!!! Great job. They are gorgeous.
Happy Thursday to you. =)
@maryjunemiller - Actually, I was thinking about you and Willow as I was putting the finishing touches on one of the dresses late last night. I made this promise to Thelma when she lost Eli and I will make it to you now… when you get pregnant again there will be a box of baby goodness sent with love from me
@fruitloops115 - I already have a small pile of patterns and fabric with your name on it
I’ve been having so much fun picking out things I think you would like. I would have a stack going for Rachel too but I have to wait to find out what I should be making
@foreveranoatneygirl_n2Hisown - If only I knew what you were having I’d be sewing up a storm!! Oh well, I’ll just wait a little longer
so could i temporarily recant my love affair with all white onesies …. i know you’re on a girl kick … but i don’t think little chad would rock the ruffles well : ) i’m standing in the dye me something, please line!
next, you know the sewer i am not but your pintrest board had me swooning & thinking i should actually join : )
last … i read your opening line and jumped over to facebook for baby news …. so fun!!
~ xoxo
So, so adorable!! The onsies are absolutely adorable – I would love to try to make them, but my crafty-patience is getting thin, although it is the ONLY thing about me that is! The dresses a simply wonderful! I had a very similar pattern when my Dannye Reigh was little that I used a lot – she’s almost 28 now – and I ran across it just the other day. Maybe I’ll try it out on Selah, my 8 month old grandbaby….
I love how crafty you are! Such pretty dresses. Thank you for sharing!
Oh my ~ just LOVE the onesies! And is there a pattern number for the dresses?
Oh wow, April- I love the onesies, and I love the darling little dresses. It makes me want to sew for the girls I do have, even though they really don’t need anything, and it also makes me rethink wanting to have a boy next
@inanorchard - seriously April, I would pay you to make me a few extra onesies
There is nothing else out there like you make
Maybe I should just message you sometime
these are so adorable! I wish I knew some people having baby girls…all boys around here right now.
Oh they are just darling! My fav. is the gray and green dress. So cute!
@fwren - No pattern number. It is just a free pattern that you can download to your computer and then print off from your printer. It comes in several sizes. The one I made is the 0-3 size, the largest if for a toddler.
I’m pleased you liked the onesies! They were fun to make.
These are adorable! I love the fabric used for the dresses. I know several girls that are pregnant with boys….only one is having a girl. I might try my hand at some of these for her! Thanks April for sharing!!
where WERE you when caroline and zoe were born???
those are adorable. beyond perfection!!
As always, you amaze me with your creativity, and I think EVERYTHING is so darling!! We have a few weeks to find out if my grandbaby #2 will be a boy or girl.
@ABAHM - How exciting Jenny!! I didn’t realize that another grandbaby was on the way. Congratulations!!
I love the new vintage onesie trend. If I had a little girl I sure be making some of these. Yours are SO cute!
I grew up wearing dresses my mom made just like those little ones above in the summer. I loved them! They were so comfy and easy to slip on and my mom loved them too because they were easy to make
I love them all!!!! Thank you so much for sharing the link to the dress, too! I can’t wait for the next little girl in our life to come along so I can try these out!!!
adorable patterns and outfits. thanks for showcasing these
I. am. speechless. And I thought that never happens to me!
April. You are just amazing!! The first picture of the vintage onesies just slays me. Everything about them is absolute perfection!! The lace, the colors, the delicate flowers! I just love it all! If I have a little girl, I will want to buy from you! Seriously!!
@lifeisadance - If you have a little girl you won’t have to buy any from me, seriously! I’ve been thinking about you so much lately, praying for you and that little one. Can’t wait to hear news about a new baby!! Have a wonderful week my friend
