It’s hard to believe that I’m the mother of a 4-year-old.  Four years since they laid that tiny baby boy in my arms.  Four years of watching him grow and learn.  Loving his infectious smile, his bottomless curiosity, answering thousands of questions, smiling and shaking my head at his creativity and ingenuity…

I know he doesn’t really belong to me, I’m just so grateful God saw fit to give him to us.

He has become fascinated with pirates lately.  So I sent him on a treasure hunt to find his birthday present.  I hid clues all over the property and house that lead him to the bathtub were his new pirate ship was waiting.

He got so involved in the hunt that when he actually found his “treasure” for a moment he seemed a little disappointed that the hunt was over.

He soon got over his disappointment!

Snuggling with Grandpa in the rocker.

Grammy and Grandpa R. gave him a huge inflatable pirate ship swimming pool.  Complete with a slide and a cannon that shoots water!  Oh yeah, we’ll be posting pictures of that later!  Grandma and Grandpa W.  gave him pirate legos which he drug up onto my bed first thing this morning and said “Mom! Mom… wake up!  Let’s put together my legos!”

I had visions of a pirate ship cake complete with sails and a treasure chest… but my cake making skills are limited (to say the least), but he was more than happy with his blue frosting and pirate action figures.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOY!
