Make Stuff Day

DSC_0049Last fall I had the pleasure of attending my first Make Stuff Day.  A full day of crafting, eating delicious food, hanging out with friends, and meeting new people!  It really did feel like a day of pampering.

DSC_0061It all began with coffee, doughnuts, and a complimentary (adorably embellished) tote bag.  Seriously, if the day had ended right there I would have been thrilled, but it kept getting better.

DSC_0068Everything was so lovely!  It was obvious that a lot of thought and work had gone into making the entire day special for the ladies who came to craft.  I could easily get lost in describing all the beautiful decorations and thoughtful touches, but it really was all about the workshops.  A day full of fun classes, a chance to learn something new, and come away with lovely finished projects.

DSC_0105The workshops featured fresh, fun projects.  The teachers were great; very knowledgeable, and hands-on.  Each class was well supplied with everything you needed to get the creative juices flowing.

Then we stopped for an amazing lunch!  I like to craft but man… I really love to eat and this lunch was delicious.  We were each given a gourmet box lunch, refreshing drinks, followed by a cookie bar… you heard me… a cookie bar.

DSC_0142It was a fantastic day, and I had every intention of signing up again this year but instead I get to teach a workshop!  Last week I got a sneak peek at this year’s classes, and I had the pleasure of meeting all the teachers, and I’ve got to say this Make Stuff Day looks even better!

DSC_0012 So if you live in the Modesto area and you’d like to sign up for Make Stuff Day 2013, now is your chance.  This is were I tell you that space is limited and the classes are expected to fill up quickly, so don’t lolly-gag and miss out on a fun day!  This year Make Stuff Day will be held at Brethren Community Fellowship (3731 Woodland Avenue, Modesto, CA).  There are 8 new workshops featuring everything from making your own terrarium to Basic Watercolor.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA If crafting, hanging out with fun gals, and eating good food is your thing, be sure to stop by the Make Stuff Day website and register.  On the website there’s a complete list of the workshops and detailed information on what to expect this year.  Did I mention that the classes are fun and they will fill up fast?  They are, and they do, so don’t wait.

I hope to see you at Make Stuff Day 2013!  ~April

How fun! This looks a lot like the crafts we would put on for the homeschool students, but bumped up for moms. The moms would often make the crafts too when there were enough materials.

Just last night I was thinking of you, and it had to do with embroidery! How about that? I have two pillows that Nana ( my late mil ) embroidered, and they are both tattered. The embroidery is fine, but there are holes in the background material. I was trying to figure out what to do with them and I thought…April would know how to salvage something out of these!

This looks so lovely, April, and right up your alley. I have some old quilt top scraps that I am going to put together as a pillow. I wonder when I will do it? LOL I am itching to get the sewing machine out. Wish me luck. xoxo
    Take care, beautiful soul!
