Sometimes it feels like my life hurries by in a never ending stream of tasks, errands, and conflicts.  But yesterday the whole world slowed down for an afternoon at the beach.

It started with the perfect lunch: salami, cheese, crackers, apples, and jelly bellies.  We dug with shovels and pails, ran in the sand, dipped toes in the ocean, climbed rocks and chased birds.  It was so fun and even relaxing!

He pulled the boys reluctantly from the waves and we all stumbled back to the car with our arms full of blankets, chairs, bags, and buckets.  We got them into warm, clean clothes and headed for out to find some good pizza.

Late that night when we pulled into the driveway they were both sound asleep.  We carried them to their beds, stripped off sandy shoes and sweatshirts, kissed their cheeks and turned off the light.

@Ma_Malai - Thank you!  We’re pretty fond of them!  I’ve actually never posted either of my boys names on my Zanga site (probably being a little too cautious).  I saw your site on the Zanga plugs and I liked the line about spending more time in the shoes with dirt on the soles (sorry that’s a very poor interpretation of a very nice phrase).

Ahh, we haven’t headed to the beach on a Sunday afternoon in a long time…so glad you could go!

I had to laugh at the mental picture of “stumbling back to the car” . It always seems like way more stuff to get back to the car than it was to take out:)

Have fun washing that sandy laundry!

@inanorchard - Thanks! I’m glad you liked it, and I completely understand about not putting their names up. But they are adorable either way They look like my brother did when he was a toddler… then he shot up to 6’5 and got taller than me! hah. I miss that age though. Maybe one day when I have kids… but for now I’ll enjoy watching my co-worker’s little boy grow up

What a perfectly wonderful looking day…wearing a sweatshirt sounds fun – how I long for the fall weather!  We plan to go to New Brighton camping at the end of this month and your pics made me anxious!
